I really love the art the kiddos are producing this unit. We are learning all about different artists and their various styles. Being my first year teaching art, I wasn't sure how the students would like learning the history behind some art. But they LOVE it! I have found wonderful videos to share with the kids that talk about the artists. Some of the videos were not show in entirety due to inappropriate images, however I wanted to post them here because they are wonderful teaching tools. Their enthusiasm and excitement is contagious and shows in their work!
3rd Grade is learning about Georges Seurat and his infamous Pointillism style.
1st Grade learned about Paul Klee and recreated his Bird and Cat painting. They loved this and came up with many names for their birds and cats.
2nd Grade discussed folk art and made beautiful works like Heather Galler.
3rd Grade learned about Calude Monet and had a choice of recreating one of his paintintgs.
Claude Monet's Venice Twilight Painting was the most popular.
1st Grade had a blast painting Wassily Kandinsky like images.
5th Grade was very interested in Henri Rousseau and his beautiful jungles. They thought it was so fascinating Henri has never even been to a jungle in his life and was still able to create these masterpieces.
Georgia O'Keefe is always a favorite for kids, and painting her flowers did not disappoint kindergarten, or ME! The are beautiful!
